NABA Secretariat Staff

The NABA Secretariat is managed by the Director General, who is responsible for carrying out the association's strategy as approved by the Board of Directors and ensuring NABA objectives are achieved. The Director General is supported by the NABA Secretariat staff.

Michael McEwen
Director General

Michael McEwen is Director General of the North American Broadcasters Association (NABA) and was former Secretary General of the organization from 2001 to 2005. From 2006 to 2012 Mr. McEwen was a consultant advising on Media; Strategy, Policy and Broadcast Digital Technologies. Mr. McEwen is a former Chairman and Director of the UK based Media Asset Capital ltd. and remains Chairman of the Global Broadcast Summit; a planned gathering of broadcast Chief Executives in November of 2012 at the International Conference Center in London. He is past President of Canadian Digital Television (CDTV) and past President of the World Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) Forum. In addition, Mr. McEwen spent over 27 years with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) including production and executive management roles.

Anh Ngo
Director, Administration

Anh Ngo is the Director of Administration for the North American Broadcasters Association and World Broadcasting Unions. Ms. Ngo’s primary responsibilities are to provide continuity on the work plans and activities pertaining to North American and global television and radio industries addressing legal, business development, technical and operational issues. Ms. Ngo also oversees the general office and financial management including the preparation and administration of the budgets for both organizations. In this role, she reports directly to the Director General and the Chairs of the numerous committees. Ms. Ngo is NABA’s longest serving employee, having started her career with the Association in August 1997. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Minor in Spanish from McMaster University. In her spare time, she loves to travel and is working towards her Culinary Arts certificate from George Brown College.

Jason Paris
Senior Coordinator

Jason Paris performs the role of Senior Coordinator for NABA and the World Broadcasting Unions (WBU). In this role, Mr. Paris plans, organizes and coordinates all day-to-day administration for the Secretariat’s office, while fostering and maintaining solid and positive relationships with the membership of both organizations. Mr. Paris also plays the central role in organizing and planning the logistics, and much of the content, for both the WBU’s biannual ISOG Forums and NABA’s Annual General Meeting & Conference. Mr. Paris’ previous positions include coordinating local film production for I.A.T.S.E. and assisting in the TV publicity department of Alliance Atlantis. He holds a double-major in Mass Communications & Political Science from Toronto’s York University and a diploma in Journalism from Seneca College.

Roxanne Riess
Executive Assistant

Roxanne Riess is Executive Assistant for NABA. In this role, Ms. Riess provides direct administrative and project support to the Director General. Ms. Riess also provides general administrative, office management and communication support to the Secretariat office, including planning and support for ongoing meetings and special events of NABA Committees. She is also responsible for providing desktop publishing and software support to the Secretariat office, including the maintenance and update of websites for NABA and the WBU, where appropriate. Ms. Riess’ previous positions include coordinating events for Laurier International at Wilfrid Laurier University and assisting in the immigration and medical sections at the Canadian Embassy in Paris, France. She holds a B.A. degree in Global Studies and a minor in Communications Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Vineet Mathur
IT & Web Administrator

Vineet Mathur is IT & Web Administrator for NABA and the World Broadcasting Unions (WBU). Mr. Mathur transitioned into his current role in 2004 and is primarily responsible for overseeing all technology for the organization, including the IT network; managing websites for NABA and WBU, which he redesigned in 2006; and ensuring appropriate technology is available and aligned to support strategic objectives. As required, Mr. Mathur also supports various NABA and WBU activities, including marketing and AGM, ISOG preparation. He has completed CCNA training, holds a Honours B.A. degree with double-specialist in Economics & Political Science and minor in Environmental Economics from the University of Toronto, and certificates in Management from Harvard Business School.
