NABA Secretariat Staff

The NABA Secretariat is managed by the Director-General, who is responsible for carrying out the association's strategy as approved by the Board of Directors and ensuring NABA objectives are achieved. The Director-General is supported by the NABA Secretariat staff.

Michael McEwen

Michael McEwen is Director-General of the North American Broadcasters Association (NABA) and was former Secretary General of the organization from 2001 to 2005. From 2006 to 2012 Mr. McEwen was a consultant advising on Media; Strategy, Policy and Broadcast Digital Technologies. Mr. McEwen is a former Chairman and Director of the UK based Media Asset Capital ltd. He is past President of Canadian Digital Television (CDTV) and past President of the World Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) Forum. In addition, Mr. McEwen spent over 27 years with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) including production and executive management roles.

Anh Ngo
Director, Administration

Anh Ngo is the Director of Administration for the North American Broadcasters Association and World Broadcasting Unions and reports directly to NABA's Director-General. Ms. Ngo’s primary responsibilities are to provide continuity on the work plans and activities pertaining to North American and global television and radio industries addressing legal, business development, technical and operational issues. Ms. Ngo also oversees the general office and financial management including the preparation and administration of the budgets for both organizations. In this role, she reports directly to the Director General and the Chairs of the numerous committees. Ms. Ngo is NABA’s longest serving employee, having started her career with the Association in August 1997. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Minor in Spanish from McMaster University. In her spare time, she loves to travel and is working towards her Culinary Arts certificate from George Brown College.

Jason Paris
Manager, Committees & Communications

Jason Paris performs the role of Manager, Committees & Communications for both NABA and the World Broadcasting Unions (WBU). In this role, Mr. Paris plans, organizes and coordinates much of the day-to-day administration for the Secretariat, in particular, being the key contact for four Committees: Legal, Radio, Risk Awareness & Continuity, and the WBU-WIPO Broadcaster Treaty Working Group. Along with his colleagues, he also helps organize and plan the content for both the WBU's bi-annual IMCG Forums, plus NABA's AGM Event and the annual Future of Radio & Audio Symposium. Mr. Paris is also the Editor of NABA's bi-monthly NABAcaster newsletter. Mr. Paris' previous positions include coordinating local film production for I.A.T.S.E.'s Toronto Film Office and assisting in the TV publicity department of Alliance Atlantis. He holds a double-major in Mass Communications & Political Science from Toronto's York University and a diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Seneca College.

Jenn Hadfield
Executive Assistant

Jenn Hadfield is the Executive Assistant to NABA Director-General, Michael McEwen. In this role, Ms. Hadfield provides direct administrative and project support to the Director-General. In addition, Ms. Hadfield provides administrative, office management, and communication support to the Secretariat office, including planning and support for ongoing meetings and special events of NABA Committees and the World Broadcasting Unions. Ms. Hadfield previously worked in radio, spending the last 10 years with Central Ontario Broadcasting as an announcer and Music Director for 107.5 Kool FM in Barrie, and as a Music Manager at Indie88 in Toronto. She has a B.A. in Psychology from York University and a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Radio and Television from Ryerson University.
